OVERVIEW
The British Comedy Academy has been established to celebrate, showcase and support British comedy in all its forms at home and abroad and to establish an interactive forum with professionals and performers within the UK comedy & entertainment industries. The Academy membership has been appointed by the British Comedy Awards to vote upon the programmes and performers eligible for each year’s nominations.
MEMBERSHIP
The inaugural intake of invited members includes all past winners of a British Comedy Award throughout the 21 year history of the award, as well as a cross section of those who work at the highest level in the UK comedy industry; be they performers, broadcast executives, writers, producers, directors, agents - past and present. The Academy will grow and adapt each year with all future winners of a British Comedy Award being invited to join. The Academy will also ensure that membership remains proportionately balanced to reflect ages, regions, alliances, etc and as such will annually consider augmenting the membership. AMBITION
The Academy will work to help more people around the world discover British Comedy talent. The role of the Academy will expand to include working with partners to create or support initiatives intended to generate opportunities for grass roots comedy, or help promote UK comedy talent at home or abroad.
